If there is
one thing, I want you to walk away with this morning from what Paul teaches us in theses verses here in Ephesians is:
Imitation increases
Illumination
The more I
look like Jesus the more I
shine for Him.
Ephesians 5:1-2
The way we
increase illumination is
through imitation.
The Greek word for light –
fos – is used 7 times in the NT and it’s always in a position of light.
Ephesians 5:8
We were once in
darkness, but through Christ we live in the
light.
Five Keys for Imitating Jesus
- Takers become givers.
- Grace, love, and salvation isn’t something we should hold just for ourselves.
- We have taken, but now we need to freely give.
- Flee the night for the light.
- Ephesians 5:8

- Paul doesn’t say you were in darkness, he says you were
- The unwise must become wise.
- Ephesians 5:15
- One of the greatest ways to walk in wisdom is to ask yourself is this the wise thing to do.
- In light of my past and current circumstances is this the wise thing to do?
- You get wisdom by seeking it. If you want the answer, you’ll find it.
- Step out of procrastination into determination.
- Ephesians 5:16
- Listen, God wants you to walk in step with Him and not waste time.
- Empty people become full
- It’s important to realize that none of this is possible apart from the power of the Spirit of God.
